It is recognized that this training is comprehensive and time-consuming. As recommended by IEEE, SBI has segmented the training into three skill level modules, separated by time and successful on-the-job experience. A trainee must complete the previous Level prior to proceeding to the next level.

Courses are conducted at both of our facilities in Kansas City, MO and Baltimore, MD. For those that want us to conduct the training at your facility, a minimum of 6 students is required. Please contact us for more details.

COST: The cost for each course is $1350 per trainee

Level One
The Level One course is an introduction to several topics such as safety, electrical circuits, codes/standards, tools, installation, battery maintenance and inspections.

NOTE: If a trainee feels they do not need to complete Level 1, and would like to begin with Level 2, the trainee must complete a Equivalency Qualification Process. For details on this process, please contact us.

  



Cost per level is $1350.
     

Level Two
Prior to enrolling for the Level 2 course, battery technicians should have received their Level 1 and know battery basics, including the basics of maintenance and installation. Level 2 technicians should have on-the-job training (OJT) as a Level 1 (generally at least 6 months) or previous experience (verified by observation by a Level 3 technician or qualified trainer) before becoming a Level 2. Level 2 technicians may require higher level supervision for specific tasks.

   
     

Level Three
Level 3 battery technicians should be able to perform work independently, except for those areas requiring specialized knowledge. Level 3 technicians should generally have at least one year of OJT as a Level 2 before becoming a Level 3, or previous equivalent experience (verified by observation by an experienced Level 3 technician or qualified trainer).

   
     
Level Four (Specialized Knowledge)
This level digs more into detail with the specific field that the technician is involved with (UPS, Telecom, Utility, Substation)
